The Akwa Ibom State Football Association has conducted elections into different Local Councils of the football association in the State.
The elections took place at three centres namely: Eket Stadium for Local Councils in Akwa Ibom South, Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium for Local Councils in Akwa Ibom North-West, and Tevoli Hotels, Uyo for Local Councils in Akwa Ibom North-East.
Speaking with pressmen shortly after the elections, the Acting Chairman of Akwa Ibom State Football Association, Samuel Umoh, said the elections became necessary as the tenure for all Local Councils had expired.
Umoh, charged the new leadership of Local Councils to do their best to ensure that football is developed at the grassroot levels.
