A Canadian-based group, International Council for Local Environmental Initiative, has concluded plans to construct its Africa Regional Office and capacity International Centre in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.The idea to locate the project in Akwa Ibom was mooted in Malmo, Sweden during the group’s World Congress, where Resolution was passed and Uyo was selected among cities like Cape Town, South Africa and Kigali, Rwanda from the three nominated countries.Its Regional Coordinator, Prince Owoh, in a statement in Abuja, explained that the location of the office in Akwa Ibom was based on the state’s performance and safe havens for investments.Owoh said that the execution of the project would attract over one thousand two hundred and fifty towns and cities, countries and member organizations to Akwa Ibom with the potential for securing the hosting rights for the World Congress.
