Chelsea have confirmed the appointment of  Nigerian manager Hassan Sulaiman as the Head Coach of their U-18 team.

The London-born coach takes over the team following former coach Ed Brands’ decision to join the Swindon Town men’s team.

Sulaiman, a former Arsenal youth player, first joined Chelsea as a coach in 2008. There, he looked after the U-11 squad that had Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori, both of whom have played for the Blues.

He has continued to progress at the club ever since, rising through the ranks at Cobham in a number of different roles. His last role was coach of the U-16s before he moved up to the U-18 team.
