The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), yesterday, confirmed the death of 20 people in two separate accidents along the Ibadan-Lagos expressway, Ibadan, Oyo State and Mokwa in Niger State. The Ibadan auto crash, which reportedly happened few minutes drive before Guru Maharaj Ji area was a lone crash that involved a Toyota Bus. Eighteen persons all male adults were involved in the crash, out of which ten were dead, six injured and two rescued without any injuries. The main cause of the crash, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps is dangerous driving, road obstruction and excessive speed which led to loss of control. According to a statement signed by the Assistant Corps Marshal Corps Public Education Officer of FRSC, six surviving victims rescued with different injuries during the rescue operations were given adequate first aid by the Corps’ medical rescue team before moving them to Ibadan Central Hospital for proper medical attention, while the remains of the deceased were deposited at Adeoyo General Hospital Morgue, Ibadan. According to Kazeem, preliminary investigation conducted into the crash was attributed to wanton violation of speed limit and indulgence in dangerous driving.
