State governments, which sued the Federal Government on the naira redesign policy, have given the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, and the Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele, till Tomorrow March 14, 2023 to comply with the order of the Supreme Court on the currency.

The state governments threatened to file contempt charges against the two top officials tomorrow if they fail to obey the apex court which ordered that the old one thousand, five hundred and two hundred naira banknotes should be in circulation alongside the new notes till December 31, 2023.

Over one week after the court handed down the order, the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice and the CBN have kept silent over the verdict.

Their silence, according to the statement has emboldened Nigerians and businesses to reject the old notes as legal tender.

Newsmen reported recently that the Federal Government had been served with the enrolled order and Certified True Copy of the Supreme Court judgment ordering the use of old notes as legal tender for 10 months.
