In a bid to expand its fleet in preparation for network expansion, especially for the upcoming busy Christmas and New Year season, Nigeria’s Ibom Air has taken delivery of two Airbus A320 aircraft. The two aircraft, which arrived over the weekend, were procured from Get-Jet Airlines UAB, a European aircraft leasing company, on a one year wet-lease agreement. According to the Chief Operating Officer, Mr George Uriesi, the wet-lease agreement is a stop-gap measure undertaken to meet current demands and accommodate growth, while awaiting the deliveries of ten brand new Airbus A220-300 aircraft, an order that was firmed up in November 2021 at the Dubai Air-show. Uriesi said the new flight schedules will take effect from today 23rd November ,2022 to meet the demand of the holiday season. Wholly owned by the Akwa Ibom State Government, Ibom Air is one of the fastest-growing airlines in Nigeria .
