The Akwa Ibom State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested 60 drug suspects and secured eleven convictions in the last three months.

The Agency Commander in Akwa Ibom, Mrs. Obot Bassey, gave the figures in an interview with newsmen  in Uyo recently.

Bassey said apart from the eleven convictions secured, several cases were still pending and were undergoing prosecution at different stages in court.

She maintained that efforts must be prioritized to create awareness of the devastating consequences of drug abuse and illicit trafficking on youths and society, especially during the Yuletide.

The commander appealed to multi-national organizations, philanthropists, and all individuals to join hands with the command to reduce drug abuse and trafficking to the barest minimum in the state.

On her projection for 2023, Mrs. Bassey said the command would sweep the state clean of drug trafficking and abuse.
